McKenna's Tanning Bed

Our Miss McKenna is jaundice :o/ This is a condition where there is too much bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellow coloring released during the normal breakdown of the baby's red blood cells. Blood carrying bilirubin goes to the liver, where it is removed by the intestines. McKenna is having problems removing the bilirubin and it is staying in the blood and building up in her skin. Because of all this McKenna has to be under bilirubin lights 24/7. She is only allowed off of the light for 20 minutes every 2 hours for us to feed her. It's been pretty tough and emotional. We're anxious for her to be off the lights so we can cuddle, snuggle, and play. Her levels are coming down and we anticipate that she'll be on the lights for about another day, totaling 3 days. We'll see...she is still such and honey and she's being so good. Mommy and Daddy are having a much harder time with this "jaundice situation" than McKenna :o)

Aww...I'm sorry! I know that must be hard not to just be able to love on her all you want! I will pray that she will be able to come off of the lights quickly! She is beautiful!
