Checking-up and Checking-in

Well, we've made it to week #30! We went to our doctor's appointment today and everything looked swell. McKenna's heartbeat sounded happy, my blood pressure, iron, measurements looked good. I've gained a whopping 14 lbs so far...I'm just thankful it's not 114 lbs :o) I go again in 2 weeks for another check-up appointment and another sonogram!!! YIPEE! I can't wait to see how much she has changed and grown in the 12 weeks since the last sonogram!

Dave has had a great first week 1/2 with his new job as a fireman! Every Tuesday he gets to go on ride-alongs with a different station each week. He goes straight from school, spends the night at the station, goes straight back to school the next morning, and then comes home after school. Whew! He is really enjoying his experiences thus far! He has yet to go on a really "exciting" call with his ride-alongs, but I assured him there is PLENTY of time for that!

I have some random pictures to post. McKenna's diaper bag is so pretty...I must share! My good friends Jennifer and Emily helped find it for me! Thanks girls! I also will add some more fun things from the nursery...it's continuing to come together!

Congratulations Keith and Hannah!

Well ladies, Keith Badgett is officially off of the market! Hannah Powell has won his heart, and boy am I thankful! My "little" brother asked his beautiful girlfriend to marry him this past weekend, and she said YES! We are so excited to welcome Hannah into our family. We are so thankful that the Lord has seen fit to bring them together! I've always wanted a sister...and now I'm going to get a really cute one! We love you Keith and Hannah. We are sooooo proud of you both!

Nursery Additions

We put the furniture together! I also got to hang her "memo board" and sweet, little name on the wall. It's coming together. There's still quite a bit to do...but it's all so much fun! I love going into her room, looking into her crib and knowing she'll be here in about TWO MONTHS! The Lord continues to bless us with a healthy pregnancy. We start our birthing classes and will take a tour through the maternity ward next week. More fun times to come for sure!

Firefighter Dave!

Dave got his uniforms today for his NEW JOB with the St. John's County Fire Department. I made him model them for me...he's so handsome! We are way excited about his new career! He starts the recruit class on April 21st and will be assigned a station at the end of the class. Way to go Dave! I'm so proud of you!

Surf-N-Turf

Oh how we love our church, friends, and food...put them together and it's an AWESOME combination! Our Sunday school class won a steak and fish dinner because our class invited the most friends to church on our "Welcome In the House" Sunday! We had a friendly little competition and beat out the other classes! Our teacher (and associate Pastor) did the cooking. Thank you Pastor "T"! We had a great time and continue to feel overwhelming blessed to be a part of this group of families.

27 weeks!

We went to the doctor's office today for a regular check up! Today was a little more nerve-wracking because I got to drink the "yummy" orange drink to test my blood for the possibility of gestational diabetes. I passed with flying colors! Yeah, praise the Lord! Everything else looked good...blood pressure, weight, belly measurement, etc. McKenna's heartbeat sounded nice and strong as well. We also got to register at the hospital. We signed our life away and filled out paperwork. We'll go back at a different time for a tour of the maternity ward and I will call tomorrow to schedule our birthing classes. We go for another appointment in 3 weeks, and then I start going every 2 weeks! Crazy...time is flying by!

Belly Shots

I don't have very many to share...I really need to do a better job of "documenting" the growing process! We are in our 27th week of pregnancy and feelin' good!

Our First Baby Shower

We went up to Cleveland, TN for my spring break this past week. We had a great time with Dave's family! Thank you Jerry and Judy for a wonderful and relaxing time! Dave's mom hosted our first baby shower. Dave's sisters and aunt helped her. It was awesome! It was great to be surrounded by family. We feel so blessed and loved. We received the sweetest gifts! We got our stroller, bathtub, and portable rocker/seat, some precious outfits, and much more. The cake was beautiful (yes, precious is missing the "u") and the day was memorable. It was fun coming home and putting the clothes in her closet and looking over the goodies again and again! Thank you Cleveland family for a fabulous party!

McKenna's Nursery

We have been busy getting our little McKenna's ready for her arrival in July. I think it will take us until then to have it the way we want it! It's been fun painting and thinking about how the room will soon be her's. We have the furniture and Dave will put it together soon. He did a great job with the chair rail and crown molding! Thanks Dave! I'm ready to hang the "memo board" we made on the wall...I don't really know what "memos" we'll be sending her, but it sure does look cute with the rest of her room! We'll post more pictures as the room comes together!

We're Bloggers!

Welcome to our blog site! We have been "bugged" by friends who have set up blog sites to start our own...I have put it off until now. I do think it will be a neat way to post our "happenings" as life as we know it is changing fast. So check back often to find out what is going on with the Jacksonville Burkes!
