The Incredible Edible Egg!

The pediatrician said that we need to start McKenna on more finger foods and less purees. One suggestion on a protein item was an egg yolk. Well for my lunch today I made a tuna sandwich and made a hard boiled egg. I kept out the yolk to try and give McK and this was the result! She had fun making a mess, and I must admit it was fun to watch as well! Next time we try an egg yolk it will be SCRAMBLED! Too funny....

The other video is of my dainty little girl showing off her new talent...spitting! Noramlly I do NOT applaud her for doing this in the highchair, but I had to get it on video for some laughs...she was happy to help :o)

Peek-A-Boo!

Our McKenna thinks that peek-a-boo is the best game ever. There have been times where she has laughed so hard there were tears streaming down her cheeks. I don't have a clue why she thinks it's so hysterical, but it's a pure JOY to hear her giggles....so we play the game often :o) This is footage of me trying to tape and hide my face to play at the same time. I think she had some "sympathy laughs" for me this time, but you can still see how she still likes to play.

Gigi's Visit!

Gigi was here! My mom was able to come visit for her spring break vacation this week. She flew in from Oklahoma City on Saturday night and flew back home this morning (Friday). We had a wonderful week, as I knew we would! Gigi's suitcase was packed with all sorts of presents to share...we only wish that Pop could have come too!

Gigi got to go to church with us on Sunday morning. We enjoyed Ruby Tuesdays for lunch and went home to take our Sunday naps :o) What better way to start your vacation?! The rest of the week was spent going to Toddler Gym, riding our bikes in the neighborhood, taking walks at the beach, swinging in the park, getting McK's 9 month pictures taken, and some GOOD eating!

Thanks Mom for ALL of your help and love this week. McKenna woke up looking for you this morning. We are excited that we'll get to see you SEVERAL times this summer!

First time going down the slide!

Picnic Lunch, enjoying the beautiful sunshine!

9 Months!

Eeeeeeeek! Our girl is 9 months old...there are no words! Another month has FLOWN by and here we are again to report all the happenings with Miss McKenna!

We went to the pediatrician on her "birthday" (the 18th) and she weighed in at 20 lbs even (holy moly) and was 27.5 inches long. The doctor took my height and Dave's height and said it looks like McKenna is going to be a "tall drink of water" :o) Maybe we have a future basketball player or volleyball player on our hands! McK checked out real well at the doctor's. She had to get her finger pricked and DIDN'T EVEN CRY! I was so proud :o) The doctor had nothing but good things to say! Praise the Lord!

McKenna is still not crawling. She is acting more interested though! She is rolling around a LOT more and can scoot herself backwards...just not forward. She can push real well with her legs if something is behind her and make herself stretch forward. We have seen her make a "tepee" with her up on her toes, bottom in the air, and arms out front...but only in her crib. She rocks back and forth whenever she gets on her knees, and can get down on her tummy from a sitting position...so who knows! She'll crawl when she's ready and I'm STILL not worried about it (actually still kinda thankful) :o)

She does have a couple of new tricks that make us giggle. She loves to stick out her tongue and spit raspberries :o) It's been really cute up until she has food in her mouth and it goes all over Mommy's face...blah! She also shakes her head side to side. She started doing it in her highchair. I think she liked how it felt on the back of her head against the soft/plastic covering of the chair. She did it being silly at first and we all laughed...now she has started shaking her head more of a "no" when she doesn't want anymore food or her bottle. I'm still working with her on some different sign language. She has started to use the "all done" sign SOMETIMES! So that makes me happy to know that it might actually be sinking in! My hope is that she'll learn to communicate with these signs rather than "telling me no" by shaking her head and communicating in grunts and/or whines. She also laughs at herself EVERY time she sneezes...she thinks it's hysterical!

Our little girl is DEFINITELY starting to show her little personality. While she is SUCH a sweet and good girl, there have been certain moments where I've thought to myself...."Oh No, here we go!" She rarely EVER cries and seems to be very flexible and easy going, but there is one thing for sure...our girl will tell you when she does NOT want something :o)
She has turned into quite the wiggler! Our bedtime routine has changed a bit to accommodate the wiggling! We now read on our tummies on a blanket in the floor instead of the rocking chair. She also has her bottles sitting up on her own rather than in Mommy's lap. Our girl is not so much of a snuggler anymore...kinda sad! You can still catch her being snuggly every once in a while, but the frequency of the rocking, sitting still, snuggle times are few and far between!

McKenna is a TALKER! Oh my goodness does she talk all the time. Her voice is so sweet, but it is CONSTANT! She tends to become quiet when she is around crowds of people...I think there is too much to see...but when she's at home or in the car...whew...she talks all the time! She still has never met a stranger, in which I'm so thankful for. She gets along with anyone and everybody! She still LOVES to be outside. I'm so thankful for spring and can't WAIT until Summer. It's gonna be SO FUN!

We are headed into new territory with her diet. This has been the hardest thing for me to wrap my brain around. We are decreasing the amount of formula she gets in a day and we are upping her calories and solid foods. We will be trying all sorts of new textures! The Pediatrician said that McK's airway is as small as McKenna's pinkie...so this goes to show how small things need to be cut up and how they need to be soft for her to gum them. McK has done well with whole cheerios and puffs, bits of banana and avocado. I gave her plain yogurt this morning with peaches and they were a hit! I bought her some beans, cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, mini bagels, and some more fruits and veges to try as finger foods instead of purees...so we shall see!

I think that about does it! She continues to light up our world every day. We could not be more proud to be her parents!

These kinda scanned into the computer weird with the brightness/contrast/color factor...but I still think you can see how sweet she is :o)

Our BIG 9 month old girl!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wanted to share some pictures of our little lucky charm. She sure is precious! It's fun to dress her up for all of her first holidays! Hope everyone remembered to wear their green and didn't get pinched :o)

Thanks Pop & Gigi for the fun bib!

Toddler Gym

We had a fun first today! My friend Stephanie (I know her through EastPointe Church and MOPS) decided to start a Toddler Gym program for us mommies! She has a physical education major and taught for several years and is quite the expert! She put together a wonderful morning of fun activities. There were balls of all shapes and sizes, slides, tunnels, trampoline, balance beam, noodles, bowling pins, basketball hoop, and toys to ride! She brought a blanket for McKenna and her daughter Kendall to sit on and play with some toys too! Kendall is one month younger than McK and they enjoyed playing together...working on their FINE motorskills :o) My mom is here from Oklahoma, so she got to join in on the excitement! After about 45 minutes of playing, we gathered around in a circle and sang songs and did motions. It will be SO FUN when McK is able to play around WITH the big kids, but it was equally as fun for her to watch the others play! What a fun morning activity to have...a BIG THANK YOU to Stephanie for putting this all together! Can't wait for next month!

Gigi and McK singing "Head, Shoulder, Knees, and Toes" and McK and Mommy singing "Row, Row, Row you boat!"

Girls' Weekend!

Girls just wanna have fun...and we did! It was time again for me, Ginny, Meredith, and Erica to get together for a girls' weekend. This time it took us down south to Bradenton, FL! Erica had their 2nd baby, Samantha, back in November and it was time for us all to give her sugars!

Friday, Ginny took a half day from work, met us at our house, and we took off to pick up Meredith in Orlando. McKenna was a good little traveler and had lots of fun with Auntie Mer Mer in the back seat! We got to Bradenton in time for some yummy dinner made by our wonderful Hostess. We finished out the rest of Friday night catching up and giggling.

Saturday was a beautiful day! We spent the first part of our morning at the beach soaking up some sunshine before returning to the house for the kids to take naps (my, how things have changed). We took a walk around Erica's beautiful neighborhood after they woke up and then got all dolled up for a night out on the town...with NO BABIES!!! Thanks to Erica's wonderful (and brave) husband who watched the girls, the 4 of us ate dinner at a fabulous restaurant on the water. It was nice to get dressed up and have some place fun to be with girlfriends :o)

Sunday we had breakfast together and then made our trek back through Orlando to Jacksonville. The weekend went by so quickly...it always does! Thank you ladies for a great time...thank you for all of your help with McKenna. Erica, you were a gracious hostess and your family is so sweet and precious. I love you ladies so very much. I'm already excited about being together again in May when we celebrate Meredith's graduation and throw her a baby shower!

Cirque Du Soleil

My fabulous husband treated me to a fabulous date while his parents were here!! He surprised me with tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil in Orlando!! It was a wonderful evening. The show was fantastic! Our seats were in the 2nd row! There was something going on every single minute on every inch of the stage. It was nice to get dressed up, out of town, and stay up late! After the show we ate dinner at the Macaroni Grill and then headed home. McKenna was a real good girl for her grandparents and they were thrilled to be able to watch her for us. Thank you Dave for a fun and memorable get-a-way date! I
