9 Months!

Eeeeeeeek! Our girl is 9 months old...there are no words! Another month has FLOWN by and here we are again to report all the happenings with Miss McKenna!

We went to the pediatrician on her "birthday" (the 18th) and she weighed in at 20 lbs even (holy moly) and was 27.5 inches long. The doctor took my height and Dave's height and said it looks like McKenna is going to be a "tall drink of water" :o) Maybe we have a future basketball player or volleyball player on our hands! McK checked out real well at the doctor's. She had to get her finger pricked and DIDN'T EVEN CRY! I was so proud :o) The doctor had nothing but good things to say! Praise the Lord!

McKenna is still not crawling. She is acting more interested though! She is rolling around a LOT more and can scoot herself backwards...just not forward. She can push real well with her legs if something is behind her and make herself stretch forward. We have seen her make a "tepee" with her up on her toes, bottom in the air, and arms out front...but only in her crib. She rocks back and forth whenever she gets on her knees, and can get down on her tummy from a sitting position...so who knows! She'll crawl when she's ready and I'm STILL not worried about it (actually still kinda thankful) :o)

She does have a couple of new tricks that make us giggle. She loves to stick out her tongue and spit raspberries :o) It's been really cute up until she has food in her mouth and it goes all over Mommy's face...blah! She also shakes her head side to side. She started doing it in her highchair. I think she liked how it felt on the back of her head against the soft/plastic covering of the chair. She did it being silly at first and we all laughed...now she has started shaking her head more of a "no" when she doesn't want anymore food or her bottle. I'm still working with her on some different sign language. She has started to use the "all done" sign SOMETIMES! So that makes me happy to know that it might actually be sinking in! My hope is that she'll learn to communicate with these signs rather than "telling me no" by shaking her head and communicating in grunts and/or whines. She also laughs at herself EVERY time she sneezes...she thinks it's hysterical!

Our little girl is DEFINITELY starting to show her little personality. While she is SUCH a sweet and good girl, there have been certain moments where I've thought to myself...."Oh No, here we go!" She rarely EVER cries and seems to be very flexible and easy going, but there is one thing for sure...our girl will tell you when she does NOT want something :o)
She has turned into quite the wiggler! Our bedtime routine has changed a bit to accommodate the wiggling! We now read on our tummies on a blanket in the floor instead of the rocking chair. She also has her bottles sitting up on her own rather than in Mommy's lap. Our girl is not so much of a snuggler anymore...kinda sad! You can still catch her being snuggly every once in a while, but the frequency of the rocking, sitting still, snuggle times are few and far between!

McKenna is a TALKER! Oh my goodness does she talk all the time. Her voice is so sweet, but it is CONSTANT! She tends to become quiet when she is around crowds of people...I think there is too much to see...but when she's at home or in the car...whew...she talks all the time! She still has never met a stranger, in which I'm so thankful for. She gets along with anyone and everybody! She still LOVES to be outside. I'm so thankful for spring and can't WAIT until Summer. It's gonna be SO FUN!

We are headed into new territory with her diet. This has been the hardest thing for me to wrap my brain around. We are decreasing the amount of formula she gets in a day and we are upping her calories and solid foods. We will be trying all sorts of new textures! The Pediatrician said that McK's airway is as small as McKenna's pinkie...so this goes to show how small things need to be cut up and how they need to be soft for her to gum them. McK has done well with whole cheerios and puffs, bits of banana and avocado. I gave her plain yogurt this morning with peaches and they were a hit! I bought her some beans, cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, mini bagels, and some more fruits and veges to try as finger foods instead of purees...so we shall see!

I think that about does it! She continues to light up our world every day. We could not be more proud to be her parents!

These kinda scanned into the computer weird with the brightness/contrast/color factor...but I still think you can see how sweet she is :o)

Eric,
Andrew's doc told us at 2yr if you double there height that is a good idea of the size they will be as an adult.

It is so neat to watch her grow and think about how Chloe will be doing the same things in just a few months. I am with you with how fast time goes! I never realized it, but our girls are almost exactly five months apart--Chloe was born on the 19th of November! The pics are toooo precious--I want to know how you get so many on your posts--they give me fits! :)
