Whoa Baby!

Well...we got to see some more pictures of McKenna yesterday. I went for our last set of sonogram pictures and our 32nd week check-up. It was a much more different experience than the 20 week sonograms. All of her didn't fit on the screen, so we had to go part by part to get a good look at her! She was wiggly again, so this photo-shoot wasn't as clear as the last one. The sonographer measured her head and her tummy and I asked how she measured. The sonographer said, "Well, she's measuring a little big." I said, "How big is big?" She replied, "Well Mrs. Burke, you are looking at a 5lb 14oz baby!!" Having read up on my Pregnancy Week By Week book, I knew McKenna should be weighing in around 4lbs...no almost 6lbs!!!

I had a doctor's appt. right after our photo session, so I collected myself long enough to get his opinion. Dr. Greene seemed calm, cool, and collected as he told me our baby is in the 90% of her weight class at this particular time. He said my tummy is measuring right at 32 weeks (perfect), I haven't gained too much weight (that 14 lbs has now turned into 20 lbs), and her heartbeat sounded "perfect". I love it when he says that word! Dr. Greene said she could slow down from here on out and I questioned the alternative...what happens if she doesn't. He said then you're probably lookin' at an 8-9lb baby! Yikes! I asked if there's anything I could be doing...I wasn't convinced this was "OK". He said to ease my mind, I'll come back next Friday to do another glucose test to make sure the nasty "diabettes" word hasn't slipped in. He said otherwise there is nothing to worry about...we're just growing a big baby!

I called the grandmas after leaving the office. Come to find out McKenna's daddy was a big baby with a large head :o) Also, I weighed in at a whopping 5lbs 14oz when I was born 5 weeks early...so there's no tellin' how much I would've weighed if I continued to full term. I'll be ready to go to the doctors on Friday to make SURE she's fine...until then I'll continue to be a good "hostess" for our girl :o) If you think to pray for us, please just pray for a continued healthy pregnancy and pray for a healthy delivery...I'm not even going to say the "C-section" word yet!

Here's some of the pics taken...

This is our sweet girl! She is facing the camera. her little hand is up by her face. The arrow in the sonogram picture is pointing to her arm/hand. You can see her eye sockets, the bridge of her nose, cheeks, and lips.

This picture is a little weird :o) She is facing the camera again. You can see her nose, eyes, and her mouth is open and kinda drawn down to the side. I like it because you can see her sweet, little top lip :o)

As the picture states...heres a foot!

what awesome news that your little girl is healthy!! don't stress out about her size, i've always heard that the estimated size from the sonograms isn't usually accurate!! see you SOON!!!

I am so excited for you! As they told me with Kiley, better to be a little bigger than too small! It was so great talking to you the other day. I miss being there, especially during this time! Love you girl!

If it makes you feel any better... they told me Alex was going to be a 10 pound baby and he was only (I say that lightly) 8lbs 12oz.

You'll be fine girl! Take care!
